A perfect repair handle for replacement and upgrade situations where a large backplate is required to conceal existing holes. If you are unable to locate a new handle with the exact distance between screw holes as your existing handle, this is the one for you. The sprung levers are fixed to the backplate and by design the handles are fully reversible. Fixing lugs are supplied on both backplates for a secure fit. Supplied with fixing screws, fitted return springs and spindle to suit door thickness up to 72mm.

What measurements should I check before ordering a handle set?

The most important measurements are the distance between screw holes centre to centre and the distance from the centre of the handle spindle to the centre of the barrel . The length and width of the handle are less critical as a slightly shorter or longer handle should make no difference.

What does sprung mean?

Sprung means a spring is fitted to the door handle to return the handle to position. The easiest way to determine if you need a sprung or unsprung handle is to first remove your handle, then operate the lever to see if there is a return spring fitted to the handle. An unsprung handle can be replaced with a sprung handle, however if your existing handles are sprung they must be replaced with the same.

How to Fit your Handle.

1. With the door in the open position remove the fixing screws from the existing handle and release the handle by pulling away from the door. With the handle removed the fixing holes, lock and spindle will now be exposed.
2. Place the template over the cylinder and spindle and tape into position.
3. Clearly mark the centre of the fixing holes A & B, remove the template. Then remove the external handle and repeat the procedure 2 & 3, remove template.
4. With all four fixing holes clearly marked, drill through from both sides of the door to a depth of roughly half the door thickness using a 3mm or 4mm drill bit.
5. Repeat the procedure using a 12mm drill bit; ensuring the drill bit is at 90° degrees to the face of the door. The door has now been prepared to accept the new handles.
6. Remove the old spindle and replace with the new spindle cut to size if necessary.
7. Using the old spindle as a guide, cut the new screws to size. Place the external handle into position, followed by the internal handle. Replace the screws and secure from the inside. (Hand tight only at this stage)
8. Depress the levers on both sides to withdraw the latch and check the lock for correct operation. Fully tighten the fixing screws.
