Bifold door won't lock, or the handle has gone floppy? The lock gearbox inside the door may have worn or broken. Replacing the gearbox is often all that's needed.
We stock the ERA bifold hook gearbox for WarmCore and Liniar doors (92mm PZ), the Debar Robus compact shoot bolt lock, the Clearspan intermediate gearbox case and the Fenster bifold gearbox case.
Look for a name on the hinges, rollers, gearbox or frame label, such as Debar, Clearspan, ERA or Fenster.
The main (traffic) door usually has a key lock. Intermediate panels often have a shoot bolt lock worked by a handle.
Measure the faceplate length and width, the backset, and the PZ if there is a keyhole.
Take the lock out and photograph both sides and the faceplate.
A hook lock throws hooks into keeps on the frame or the next panel. A shoot bolt lock drives bolts up and down into the top and bottom of the frame. Check which your door uses.
Remove the handles and cylinder, undo the faceplate screws and slide the lock out. Fit the new one, refit the handles and test it with the door open before you close it.
