Window Casement Stays

Casement Window Stays

Need a window stay to hold your window open? A casement stay is the arm along the bottom of an opening window that hooks over pins on the frame to hold the window open at different positions. We stock locking casement stays for timber windows, Prima monkey tail casement stays for uPVC windows with an optional locking pin, and a Prima knurled timber window fastener.

Check the length of the stay, whether your window is timber or uPVC, and whether you want it to lock.

How to Choose a Casement Window Stay

Length

Measure the old stay from end to end. Longer stays give more opening positions.

Timber or uPVC

Use wood screws on timber windows. On uPVC windows, use screws that suit uPVC and fix into the reinforced section where possible.

Locking pin

A locking pin or lockable stay stops the stay being lifted off its pin from outside, so the window can be left slightly open more securely.

Pins and fixings

Check the stay pins on the frame are sound. Worn or missing pins should be replaced with the stay.

Casement Stay Guide

Fitting a Casement Window Stay

Fit the stay to the bottom rail of the opening window, close to the opening edge. Close the window and fit the pin to the frame so the stay sits over it in the closed position, then check each hole lines up as the window opens.
