Want your cat or dog to come and go without you opening the door? A cat flap or dog flap fitted in the door gives your pet their own way in and out, and lockable models let you keep them in at night.

Measure your pet's height from the top of the shoulders to the bottom of the chest, and the width at the widest point. The flap opening should be larger than both.
Measure the thickness of the door panel where the flap will go and compare it with the range on the listing.

On a uPVC door the flap is usually fitted through the solid lower panel. If the bottom of your door is glass, the flap can't be cut into it; a glazier will need to supply a glass unit with a hole for the flap.
Dog flaps need a bigger opening, so measure your dog carefully and check the panel is big enough for the flap and its frame. A dog flap that is too small will be uncomfortable for your dog to use.
Fit the flap at a height your pet can step through comfortably. The bottom of the opening should be roughly level with the underside of your pet's chest.
Yes. Cat flaps are commonly fitted into the solid panel of a uPVC door. Check the panel thickness against the listing before you order.
Not into existing glass. You would need a new glass unit made with a hole for the flap.
