Trickle Vents

Trickle Vents for uPVC, Timber & Aluminium Windows

Condensation on the windows, damp or mould, or a broken vent to replace? Trickle vents let a small, steady flow of fresh air into the room while the window stays closed and locked. We stock window trickle vents from Greenwood (S Vent, F Vent, L Vent and 8000HD), Titon (Trimvent Select), Yale (SlotVent, including noise-reducing versions) and Simon (Framevent), plus Titon clip fix kits.

Choose a vent that fits the slot in your window frame and gives at least the same airflow (equivalent area) as the one you are replacing.

How to Choose a Replacement Trickle Vent

Vent length

Measure the overall length of the inside vent and compare it with the length shown on each product listing.

Frame slot

Measure the length and width of the slot cut through the frame, so the new vent covers it and lines up.

Equivalent area (EA)

The EA figure, such as 2500EA or 4000EA, is the airflow in mm². Match or exceed your existing vent. The 8000HD vent is a high airflow model.

Inside vent and outside canopy

Many vents come as an inside vent plus an outside canopy (hood). Check whether you need one part or both.

Trickle Vent Buying Guide

What Do Trickle Vents Do?

A trickle vent is a small vent fitted to the top of a window frame, usually with a slider or flap to open and close it. It lets moist air out and fresh air in without opening the window, which helps reduce condensation, damp and mould, especially in bedrooms, kitchens and bathrooms.

Acoustic and Noise-Reducing Trickle Vents

If you live near a busy road, a noise-reducing trickle vent such as the Yale SlotVent noise reduction models lets air in while cutting down outside noise compared with a standard vent.

Fitting a Trickle Vent

To replace a vent, unclip or unscrew the old inside vent and outside canopy and fit the new ones over the same slots. If the new vent is a different length, check it still covers the slots fully. Fitting a vent to a window without slots means routing slots through the frame, which is best done by a window installer.

Frequently Asked Questions

Can I replace a trickle vent myself?

Yes, if your window already has slots. Most vents clip or screw over the existing slots.

What does EA mean on a trickle vent?

Equivalent area: a measure of how much air the vent lets through, in mm². A higher number means more airflow.

Do trickle vents stop condensation?

They help a lot by letting moist air escape all the time. Keep them open, especially in bedrooms and wet rooms.

Can I get spare clips for my Titon vent?

Yes. We stock the Titon XS13/XC13 clip fix kit.
