Door Chains & Safe T Catches

Door Chains & Door Guards

Want to check who is at the door before you open it fully? A door chain or door guard lets you open the door a little to talk to a caller while stopping the door from being pushed open.

We stock the UAP TS003 door chain (listed as Secured by Design approved), the Securit door guard restrictor and the JCP sliding door chain.

Choosing a Door Chain or Guard

Door chain

A chain fixed to the frame slides into a keep on the door. Simple to use and fit.

Door guard

A solid bar or arm in place of a chain. Check the listing for how it fixes.

Fixing space

Check there is room on the door and frame for both parts, and that the screws suit your door.

Use with a spy hole

For extra peace of mind, fit a spy hole as well so you can see who is there first.

Door Chain Guide

Where to Fit a Door Chain

Fit the chain at a height that is easy to reach, on the lock side of the door. Fit the keep and the chain so the door only opens a small gap when the chain is on.

Frequently Asked Questions

Can I fit a door chain to a uPVC door?

Yes, as long as the screws can fix securely into the door and frame. Check the listing.

What is the difference between a door chain and a door guard?

A door chain uses a chain; a door guard uses a solid bar or arm. Both let you open the door a little.

Do I still need to lock my door?

Yes. A chain or guard is for when you are answering the door, not a replacement for locking it.
