Window stiff to lock, draughty when closed, or won't lock at all? The keeps (striker plates) on the frame may be worn or misaligned. Window keeps are the plates the mushroom cams on the espag lock hook behind. We stock Avocet WMS and universal espag mushroom keeps, Maco keeps by part number, and universal flexi repair strike plates.
Match the lock brand, keep type and part number where you can, and check the keep lines up with the cam on the sash.
Look on the old keep for a number such as Maco 94275 or Avocet ERK076M. Matching it is the most reliable option.
Most uPVC espag locks use mushroom cams, which need mushroom keeps.
Some keeps come with packers to adjust how tightly the window closes.
Universal flexi repair strike plates can help where the frame around the old keep is damaged.
Close the window slowly and check where each cam meets its keep. Unscrew the old keep, fit the new one in the same place and check the window locks smoothly and pulls in tight. Adjust with packers if needed.
