Draught round the opening window or door? If the rubber seal round the sash has gone flat, hard or split, a new bubble gasket will seal it again. Bubble gasket is the most common weather seal on uPVC windows and doors.
We stock Reddiplex bubble gaskets by R-number (such as R6160, R6598 and R9725), B series profiles, Stormguard universal bubble seal, JCP bubble gasket in rolls, bubble seals for timber windows, and a bubble gasket sample pack.
Pull out a short length of the old gasket and look at the end. The shape of the cross-section is what you need to match.
Measure the overall height and width, and the leg or foot that pushes into the groove.
Compare your piece with the product diagrams. Reddiplex profiles are listed by R-number, such as R6160.
Measure round each window or door and add a little for the corners and trimming. Most gaskets are sold per metre.
Bubble gasket fits in a groove round the frame or sash. The rounded bubble squashes when the window or door closes and seals the gap against draughts and rain.
Two bubble gaskets can look the same from the front but have a different foot. The foot must fit your groove or the gasket will pull out.
Stormguard universal bubble seal suits many uPVC grooves. If you can't find your exact profile, it can be a good alternative, but test it first.
The bubble gasket sample pack has short lengths of different profiles, so you can test them in your frame before buying a full length.
Pull out the old gasket, clean the groove and push the new gasket in, starting at a corner. Don't stretch it, or it will shrink back and leave gaps.
Bubble gasket seals the gap round the opening sash. Wedge gasket seals the glass.
