Choose the Right Garage Door Lock

Garage door defender

A heavy steel post fixed to the ground outside the door, locked with a padlock. Stops an up-and-over door being lifted.

Security bolts

Bolts fitted inside the door that lock into the frame at the sides, worked with a key. Keyed-alike sets use one key for every bolt.

Roller shutter locks

Locks designed to stop a roller shutter door being lifted from outside.

Keyed alike

Order keyed-alike sets if you want several locks on one key.

Fitting Garage Door Locks

Security bolts fit to the inside of the door and need a hole through the door for the key. Defenders bolt into the ground in front of the door, so check the ground is solid concrete. Follow the fitting instructions and use the fixings supplied.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is the best lock for an up-and-over garage door?

A combination of a garage door defender outside and security bolts inside gives strong protection. Choose what suits your door and how you use it.

Can I get garage door locks keyed alike?

Yes. Some security bolt sets are keyed alike, so one key works every lock.
