What should I check before ordering a new door lock?
The most important measurements are lock Back-set and the lock handle centres (the distance from the centre of the handle spindle to the centre of the barrel). Both measurements are highlighted red in the technical diagram below. The diagram height measurement below shows the full un-cut lock height, you will probably have to cut the new door lock to fit your existing door. The best way to carry out this is to remove your old lock, then place on top of your new lock, making sure to line up the lock centre casings before you mark the cut line top and bottom. A simple sharp hacksaw will easily cut through the lock faceplate.
The Ferco 6.35 will also replace the 035, 235, 335, 435, 535 door locks
The centre latch is non-handed, therefore can easily be reversed unscrewing the retaining screw. You should also check the locking points and type, the Ferco 6.35 is fitted with 4 X Roller cams and 1x center latch. It is possible that your door lock is fitted with only 2 roller cam locks, as long as the other measurements match up this will simply mean the extra 2 roller cams will be left floating. This will in no way effect the performance of the lock.
