Description

JCP White Window Door Restrictor Safety Locking UPVC Child Security Wire Cable

Our JCP security cable window restrictor offers you peace of mind for a small investment and is suitable for use on all kinds of windows and doors including uPVC, aluminium, wooden and metal profiles. It is shocking to read that statistically, according to the Royal Society for the Prevention of Accidents (RoSPA) an estimated 4000 children under the age of 15 are injured by falling out of windows each year. In order to prevent this from happening RoSPA recommend that there should be a means of limiting the opening of any window where the cill level is more than three metres above external ground level. To comply with the EN13123-5:2011 + A1:2014 test standard, the restrictor/s must be fitted so that the total opening of the whole length of the window opening is less than 89mm when using as a child safety product, and 100mm for other requirements.

The JCP 19.5cm long cable provides a 10cm opening as recommended by the RoSPA. This enables the windows to be opened enough to allow sufficient ventilation but not enough for someone to fall out. A key is also provided so that the restrictor can be locked as required and also so the window can be fully opened when necessary. This means that the restrictor can be used on fire escape windows providing the key is kept in easy reach of the window.

The JCP restrictor is ideal for homes, hotels, student accommodation etc. It also provides an added benefit of extra security, the restriction of how much the window can be opened discourages burglars from being able to use the window as an access point. The JCP restrictors are very easy to install and come with four steel screws for fitting; it consists of a zinc alloy body, a nickel plated pin and a hardened steel cable which is 19.5cm long.

Features:

  • Meets EN13123-5:2011 + A1:2014 test standard when fitted correctly (89mm for children, 100mm other requirements)
  • Material: Hardened Steel Cable, Zinc alloy body; nickel plated pin
  • Universal window and door restrictor
  • Prevents fatalities and injuries
  • Can be fitted to all materials
  • Can be used in hospitals, hotels, homes and schools
  • Suitable for every type of opening window
  • Discourages burglars and intruders
  • Peace of mind for a small investment

Fitting Instructions:

Tools required: Screwdriver, pencil and drill with 2mm drill bit.

  1. To comply with EN 13126-5:2011 + A1:2014 the restrictor(s) must be fitted such that the total opening of the whole length of the window opening is less than 89mm when using as a child safety product and 100mm for other requirements. The window is pushed to open it (with a 35kg load). The window may need to have multiple restrictors fitted to achieve the above requirements. There is no minimum or maximum dimension for which window can be used as long as the window opening is restricted to 89mm or 100mm.
  2. Make sure the window is closed and select a position for the window restrictor(s) to be located.
  3. Once the position is selected mark the 4 holes with the pencil. You can then drill the 2mm pilot holes.
  4. Screw the two fixings into position. The lockable side is fitted to the frame.
  5. Apply both the plastic covers.
  6. Ensure that the restrictor will engage into its locking feature properly and test that it locks.
  7. Always keep the key in a handy position if the window is needed for a fire escape.
  8. When the restrictor(s) been fitted correctly it will comply with EN 13126-5:2011 + A1:2014
  9. The restrictor is now ready to use. We recommend you keep the key(s) away from the locking mechanism, out of reach from small children.
