Description
10 x Cockspur Handle Wedges - Strikers
Wedges also known as Strikers or Striker Plates are for use with Cockspur Handles. The Wedges fit to the frame on Upvc and Aluminium windows below the Cockspur handle. The wedge ensures that the Cockspur handle pulls the window firmly into the closed position, giving optimum compression at the apex of the wedge; they are available in various sizes that allow small compression adjustments as necessary. We also offer a mixed pack of two of each size (14 Wedges in total) for those unsure of the size required or needing wedges of assorted sizes.
Wedges are simply pushed on to the existing frame and designed with angled surfaces for ease of closure, sometimes if the wedge locating holes have become worn over time then you may require Super Glue to fix the wedges into place.

Measuring & Fitting:
By far the easiest way to measure your Wedge is to remove it first. They can be gently levered out using a tool such as a chisel or other sharp implement. Once removed, shut your window and move your handle to the closed position, you can then measure the distance from the window frame to just under the nose of the Cockspur handle.
If you have difficulties measuring or are just simply unsure then the Mixed Pack of Wedges will be ideal for you, with two of every size we sell, from 2mm to 8mm you will be able to try them all and find exactly the right size for your windows. Make sure the handle closes snugly this will give a tighter seal and minimise drafts. (If after fitting your new Wedges you are still experiencing drafts then your window gasket may have worn or become perished and could need replacing.)
Fitting your new Wedges should be relatively simple. Under the Wedge are two pins 31mm apart, these locate into the two existing holes in your window frame and should slot in easily; if however, they are too slack it is advisable to put a little Super Glue on to help them.
