Description

Stormguard 32mm Aluminium Rain Deflector Drip Bar — 914mm for Inward & Outward Opening Doors

Stop rain and water ingress at the foot of your door with the Stormguard 32mm aluminium rain deflector — easy to fit, cut to size, complete with screws and end caps.

Stormguard 32mm Aluminium Rain Deflector Drip Bar is the simple, low-cost answer to water creeping in beneath your door every time it rains. Driving rain runs down the face of a door and, without a drip bar, collects at the bottom edge where it finds its way over the threshold and into your home. This Stormguard rain deflector is designed to throw water clear of the door bottom — either working alongside a threshold sill or as a direct replacement for a worn or missing weatherboard. It suits both inward and outward opening doors and all door types, and with pre-drilled fixing holes it is quick and easy to fit without specialist tools.

Manufactured in aluminium, the deflector will not rot, warp or rust, so it keeps protecting your doorway season after season. It is available in two finishes: Silver, a shiny polished aluminium finish (not chrome plated), and Gold Effect Aluminium, so you can match it to your existing door furniture. At 914mm long it can be trimmed with a hacksaw to suit most standard door widths, and the supplied black end caps give a neat, finished edge once cut. Stormguard is a long-established UK name in weather protection and draughtproofing, trusted for straightforward products that do exactly what they say.

Key Benefits for Door Owners Battling Rain and Water Ingress:

  • Stops Water Ingress at the Door Bottom – Deflects rainwater away from the foot of the door before it can pool at the threshold and seep inside. No more damp mats, stained flooring or swollen door bottoms after heavy weather.
  • Low-Cost Fix Versus Door or Frame Replacement – A worn or missing weatherboard does not mean a new door. This rain deflector restores weather protection for a fraction of the cost of replacing the door or threshold.
  • Works With a Threshold Sill or Replaces a Weatherboard – Fit it in conjunction with your existing threshold sill for added protection, or use it as a straight replacement for a damaged timber weatherboard. One product, two common problems solved.
  • Suits Inward and Outward Opening Doors – Unlike many drip bars, this Stormguard deflector is suitable for both opening directions, so there is no guesswork over whether it will work on your particular door.
  • Suitable for All Door Types – Whether your door is uPVC, composite, timber or aluminium, this rain deflector can be fitted to protect it — ideal for the DIYer who wants one reliable answer rather than a product hunt.
  • Quick and Easy DIY Fitting – Pre-drilled screw fixing holes take the hard work out of installation. With a tape measure, hacksaw, screwdriver and a tube of sealant, most people can have it fitted in well under an hour.
  • Durable Aluminium Construction – Aluminium will not rot like timber or rust like steel, so the deflector stays straight, sound and effective year after year without the need for repainting or replacement.
  • Silver or Gold Effect Finish to Match Your Door Furniture – Choose polished silver aluminium or Gold Effect Aluminium to complement your handles, letterplate and knocker, so the repair looks like part of the door rather than an afterthought.
  • Complete Kit With Screws and End Caps – Everything you need to fit it is in the pack: the deflector, four fixing screws and two black end caps for a tidy, professional-looking finish.

Please measure the width of your door between the door stops before ordering. The deflector is 914mm long and should be cut down to suit your door, so check that your door width does not exceed 914mm. If you are unsure, please contact us and we'll be happy to help.

Pro Tips:

Pro Tip: When you cut the deflector to length, take an extra 3mm off your measurement. This small clearance is what lets the door open and close freely past the door stops without the end caps catching. And don't skip the sealant — run a bead of waterproof adhesive sealant along the full length of the sealing channel, making sure it covers the screw holes, otherwise water can track in behind the bar and through the fixings.

Package Contents:

  • 1 × Stormguard 32mm Aluminium Rain Deflector (914mm) in your chosen finish
  • 2 × Black End Caps
  • 4 × Fixing Screws
  • 1 × Fitting Instructions

Fitting Guide:

Tools required: tape measure, marker pen, hacksaw, screwdriver and waterproof adhesive sealant. A drill may be needed for pilot holes.

  • Step 1 – Measure Up: Measure the width of the door frame between the door stops at the bottom of the frame.
  • Step 2 – Preparation: To ensure the door opens and closes freely, take an extra 3mm off your measurement. Mark this length along the rain deflector and cut to size using the hacksaw.
  • Step 3 – Fitting: Place a mark on the door 40mm above the top of the threshold. Hold the rain deflector in position with its top edge in line with the 40mm mark and mark through the guide holes. Apply waterproof adhesive sealant all the way along the sealing channel of the deflector, making sure to cover the screw holes. Align the deflector on the door using your marks as a guide and screw into place. It may be necessary to drill pilot holes first. Fit the end caps to finish.

Frequently Asked Questions:

Will this rain deflector fit my uPVC or composite door?
Yes. The Stormguard 32mm rain deflector is suitable for all door types, including uPVC, composite, timber and aluminium doors, and works on both inward and outward opening doors. It is 914mm long and is cut down to suit your door, so simply check that the width of your door between the door stops is no more than 914mm.

How do I fit a rain deflector to my door and what tools do I need?
Fitting is a straightforward DIY job. You will need a tape measure, marker pen, hacksaw, screwdriver and a tube of waterproof adhesive sealant; a drill may be handy for pilot holes. Measure between the door stops, cut the deflector 3mm shorter than that measurement, mark a line 40mm above the threshold, apply sealant along the channel and screw into place using the pre-drilled holes. Full step-by-step instructions are included above and in the pack.

Is the silver finish chrome, and what is the gold version made of?
The Silver option is a shiny polished aluminium finish — it is not chrome plated, though it gives a similar bright appearance. The Gold option is Gold Effect Aluminium, a gold-coloured finish applied to the same aluminium bar. Both versions are supplied with black end caps to cover the cut ends for a neat, finished look.

Can I use this instead of a weatherboard, or alongside a threshold sill?
Both. The Stormguard drip bar is designed to replace a worn, rotten or missing weatherboard, or to be fitted in conjunction with an existing threshold sill for extra protection against driving rain. In either case it deflects water away from the door bottom so it cannot collect at the threshold and enter your home.

Will it stop draughts as well as rain?
This product is a rain deflector rather than a draught excluder — its job is to throw water clear of the door bottom. It does not seal the gap under the door. If you also have a draught under the door, pair it with a suitable door bottom seal or threshold seal, and you'll have both water and draught problems covered.

Why Choose the Stormguard 32mm Aluminium Rain Deflector?

Water getting in under a door is one of those small problems that quietly causes big ones — damp flooring, a swollen door bottom, and a threshold that slowly deteriorates. The Stormguard 32mm aluminium rain deflector addresses it at source, deflecting rain away from the door before it can do any damage. Made from aluminium that won't rot or rust, available in polished silver or gold effect to suit your door, and supplied with everything needed to fit it, it is a lasting repair rather than a temporary patch, from a UK brand that has specialised in weather protection for decades.

JCP Hardware has supplied door and window parts for over 30 years, and we stock the Stormguard range because it works. Order with confidence — and if you need help checking your measurements before you buy, our team is only a message away.
