What measurements should I check before ordering a sashlock?

*When buying a sashlock for your door handle it is important to work out the correct size. There are 6 important dimensions.

  • A. Backset: Is measured from the centre of the square hole the handle spindle passes through to the front of the lock. Usually 44mm (for a 64mm (2½”) lock) & 56mm (for a 76mm (3”) lock).
  • B. PZ Centres: This is measured from the centre of the lower spindle hole to the centre of the square hole the handle spindle passes through.
  • C. Case Depth: The depth of the lock when routed into the door, measured from edge to edge. Typically in the UK case depths are generally either 64mm (2½”) and 76mm (3”).
  • D. Case Height: The height of the lock case, measured from top to bottom.
  • E. Faceplate Length: The overall length of the faceplate (the part that is visible once the lock is fitted).
  • F. Faceplate Width: The width of the faceplate (the part that is visible once the lock is fitted).

Important, please check the critical measurements in the diagram in the gallery before ordering.
