Fab & Fix Door Hardware Collection. The UK’s original suited hardware range, and still one of the best. Fab & Fix (made by ERA) has been doing colour-matched door furniture for 30+ years. The Balmoral, Windsor and Farnham door handles (68PZ and 92PZ, in 122mm, 211mm and 215mm screw centres) sit alongside matching Connoisseur window handles, Nu Mail and Architectural letterboxes, the Bull Ring knocker, and Haven composite door hinges. Every piece carries the same Hardex coating and colour-matched screws, so the finish stays consistent across the door. Finishes include chrome, satin, gold, black, white, antique and more.
Ultion Door Hardware Collection (Sweet range). From the people behind Britain’s most secure cylinder. The Sweet range is built around an “edgeless” curved profile that’s harder to grip with mole grips and sheds weather rather than trapping it. 92PZ door handles in 122mm and 211mm screw centres, 10″ and 12″ letterplates, slimline knockers, escutcheons and self-adhesive house numbers — all in the same seven finishes: anthracite grey, black, gold, rose gold, satin nickel, stainless steel and chrome. Backed by a 20-year anti-corrosion guarantee and tested to 800,000 cycles.
Why buy a suited collection. Handles, letterboxes and knockers bought individually rarely match up properly — the “chromes” are slightly different shades, the screws are the wrong colour, the textures don’t line up. Buying within a single collection solves that in one go. Pick your finish and every piece matches, including the screws.
Choosing between the two. Go Fab & Fix if you want the widest choice of styles (traditional, architectural, heritage, forged), the biggest colour palette, and hardware that also coordinates with matching window handles. Go Ultion Sweet if you want the most weather-resistant finish on the market, the sleekest modern look, and you’re already running — or planning to fit — an Ultion cylinder.
Will the chrome on a Fab & Fix handle match the chrome on an Ultion letterbox?
No — and this is the single biggest reason to buy within one collection. Each manufacturer mixes its own finishes, so “chrome” from one brand is slightly warmer or cooler than “chrome” from another. If you want everything to truly match, stay within Fab & Fix or within Ultion Sweet for the whole door.
How do I measure my door handle before ordering?
Two measurements matter: the distance between the two screw centres (commonly 122mm, 211mm or 215mm), and the PZ centre — the distance from the middle of the spindle hole to the middle of the keyhole (typically 68mm or 92mm). Measure existing hardware with a ruler, and match both numbers. If you’re unsure, send us a photo with a tape measure against it.
Will Fab & Fix and Ultion Sweet fit my uPVC or composite door?
Both ranges are designed specifically for uPVC, composite, aluminium and timber doors. Fab & Fix covers the full 68PZ and 92PZ door prep options. Ultion Sweet is 92PZ and fits door thicknesses from 40–77mm. Neither is designed for standard internal wooden doors — those need mortice-style handles instead.
Does the knocker require drilling through the door?
No. Both the Fab & Fix Bull Ring and the Ultion Sweet slimline knocker use face-fixing plates that screw into the front surface of the door only. No need to drill the door through — important on composite doors, where through-drilling can affect the panel. Short fixings into the face are all that’s needed.
Which letterbox size do I need — 10″ or 12″?
Measure the length of the existing letterbox cut-out in your door, horizontally. 10″ (254mm) is more common on older uPVC doors; 12″ (305mm) is the newer standard on composite and most modern uPVC doors. Both Fab & Fix and Ultion Sweet do both sizes, in matching finishes.
Can I upgrade piece-by-piece, or do I need to buy the full collection at once?
Piece-by-piece is fine, as long as you stay within the same collection and the same finish name. A Fab & Fix handle bought today will match a Fab & Fix letterbox bought in three years’ time, provided the finish code is the same. Note your finish down when you buy so you’ve got it for next time.
