3-Mode Locking System Explained:
Mode 1: Tilt Function – Handle Position – Up (180° / 12 o’clock position)
- Rotate the handle upwards.
- This engages the tilt function: the top of the sash tilts inwards a small amount while the bottom stays fixed.
- Provides secure ventilation without the window fully opening.
Mode 2: Unlocked – Handle Position – Horizontal (90° / 3 o’clock position)
- Turn the handle to the side so it is horizontal.
- This is the turn/open position: the sash swings inwards like a door on its side hinges.
- Useful for full ventilation or cleaning access.
Mode 3: Locked – Handle Position – Down (0° / 6 o’clock position)
- The handle is pointing straight down.
- This is the closed position: the gearbox in the window mechanism pulls all the locking points in tight, so the sash is fully sealed shut.
Pro Tips:
Pro Tip: Use the 90-degree Tilt Safe position for everyday ventilation in upstairs rooms. This provides fresh air whilst maintaining complete fall-safety protection—especially important in homes with children or elderly residents. Installers should demonstrate all three modes to end users to ensure the handle’s safety features are properly understood and used.

FAQ:
Will this handle fit my tilt and turn windows?
The Alpha TBT has standard 43mm fixing centres and eurogroove compatibility, so it will fit all eurogroove fit systems including AGB, Roto, Siegenia and Maco hardware (with a 40mm handle spindle). It works with uPVC, aluminium and timber windows with tilt and turn drive gear. The 7mm square spindle with 40mm length is industry standard. Simply measure your current handle’s screw hole centres and spindle length.
How do I set up the handle for turn-first windows?
For turn-first operation, invert the backplate during installation. This changes the locking behaviour so the handle must be turned to full 180-degree position to unlock. If your current handle turns down first before tilting, use the inverted backplate configuration.
Which finish should I choose for my window frames?
For white uPVC frames, choose White. PVD Gold is elegant and perfect for traditional properties.
