ORDER BY 2 PM (MON–FRI) FOR SAME-DAY DESPATCH! NO DESPATCH ON WEEKENDS OR BANK HOLIDAYS
Need a glazing hammer? Scratch on your uPVC frame? Short of packers or the right-size screws?
The tools, fixings and consumables you actually need when you’re fitting, repairing or servicing uPVC, composite and aluminium doors and windows — glazing tools, screws, scratch repair pens, sealants, padlocks, suction cups and more.
Not sure which tool or screw size you need? Send us a photo and we’ll point you at the right one. Support hours Mon–Fri, 9am–3:30pm.
Glazing tools. The proper kit for removing and refitting sealed units — Thor nylon-faced glazing hammers (1lb and 1.5lb), Xpert deglazing chisels and bead removal tools, glazing paddles and shovels, mitre shears for cutting gaskets, and Bohle glass cutters and cutting fluid. We also stock JCP glazing tool bundles that pair a hammer, paddle and chisel for anyone kitting out from scratch.
Glazing packers and suction cups. JCP 28mm flat packers in packs of 100 and hardwood wedge packers for packing door and window frames. Plus Xpert and Bohle Veribor glass lifters with 2 or 3 suction cups for handling heavy units safely — and Hedgehog air-wedge pump bags for easing frames into position.
Fixings, screws and bolts. Everything you need to fit or replace window and door hardware — M5 espag window handle screws (40mm and other lengths), friction hinge screws, uPVC self-drilling screws, nylon frame anchor fixings, T30 masonry Torx screws, and JCP Baypole window & door frame screws. If you’re replacing a handle or hinge and the originals are chewed up, this is where to look.
Scratch repair and uPVC touch-up. WRS and Konig uPVC scratch repair pens and full repair kits for covering scuffs, scratches and light damage on white and coloured frames — a much cheaper fix than replacing a sash or panel when the damage is cosmetic.
Sealants, adhesives and guns. Bond It HA6 high-modulus marine-grade silicone (singles and bulk 3, 4, 5, 10 and 25 packs), expanding foam and PU foam guns, silicone scraper removal tools, astro turf adhesive, and heavy-duty dripless caulking guns. Pick the right sealant for the job and the substrate — using the wrong one is the most common reason a repair fails later.
Measuring gauges. Xpert and Flexi Meter glass thickness gauges (0–105mm) for measuring sealed units before you order replacements, plus UAP euro cylinder gauges and locksmith multi-tools for sizing existing cylinders. Measuring properly first time saves a return journey and a wrong order.
Padlocks, hasps and keysafes. Yale combination padlocks, close-shackle padlocks, key-locking hasps, Yale combination keysafes, and Securit padlocks and hasp-and-staple sets for sheds, gates, outbuildings and side passages.
Plus saws, rubber and nylon mallets, multi-tools, gasket rollers, punch-down tools, JCP cleaning paper rolls — the smaller consumables that make a day on site go smoothly.
Why do I need a nylon-faced glazing hammer rather than a normal one?
A steel hammer will mark or crack a uPVC bead the first time you catch it wrong. A nylon-faced glazing hammer (like the Thor 710) has soft faces that won’t damage the bead when you’re tapping it back into place. It’s the standard tool for refitting beads after replacing a sealed unit.
How do I measure the thickness of a sealed unit?
Use a glass thickness gauge — it clips over the edge of the unit and reads the overall depth (commonly 24mm or 28mm for double-glazed, up to 44mm+ for triple). Our Xpert and Flexi Meter gauges cover 0–105mm. Measure before ordering a replacement; thickness is one of the critical dimensions the supplier will ask for.
Will a uPVC scratch repair pen work on a coloured or woodgrain frame?
They work best on white frames. On coloured, anthracite or woodgrain-foiled frames the match is harder and results vary — a proper repair kit (like the Konig kit) with heat and colour-matching gives a better finish than a pen alone. For deep gouges or a visible chip on a coloured sash, a professional foil repair is usually a better call than DIY.
What screws do I need to fit a replacement door or window handle?
Most uPVC espag window handles use M5 machine screws — commonly 40mm, but the length depends on the frame and whether the handle is single or double-point. Measure the old ones before ordering. Many of our handles come with screws included; if yours didn’t, search “espag handle screws” or “M5 handle screws”.
High-mod or low-mod silicone — which do I want?
Low-modulus neutral-cure is the usual choice for weather-sealing around a window frame — it stays flexible as the frame moves. High-modulus (like Bond It HA6) is firmer, grips harder, and suits applications where you want the bead to hold its shape under load. If you’re weather-sealing a window externally and aren’t sure, go low-mod; if it’s a marine or structural job, check the datasheet first.
Do I really need suction cups to change a sealed unit?
For anything bigger than a small top-opener, yes. A double or triple suction lifter gives you a safe grip on the glass with both hands, lets you control it through a tight opening, and drastically reduces the risk of dropping or cracking the unit. A 2-cup lifter handles most domestic windows; go to a 3-cup for larger or heavier triple-glazed panes.
