Before You Order:

Measure the width of your door frame between the door stops at the bottom, and check it is no more than 914mm. The deflector also needs a flat face about 40mm above the threshold to sit on, so check the bottom of your door for deep panel mouldings or a raised kick plate at that height. Pro Tip: Before you apply any sealant, hold the cut bar on your 40mm line and swing the door fully open and closed to check it clears the threshold. If it catches, raise the line slightly before marking the holes. Clean and dry the door face first too, because sealant won't bond properly to a dirty or damp surface, and a poor bond lets water track in behind the bar.

Fitting Guide:

Tools required: tape measure, marker pen, hacksaw, screwdriver and waterproof adhesive sealant. You may also need a drill for pilot holes.

• Step 1 – Measure Up: Measure the width of the door frame between the door stops at the bottom of the frame.
• Step 2 – Cut to Size: Take an extra 3mm off your measurement so the door opens and closes freely. Mark this length on the rain deflector and cut it with the hacksaw.
• Step 3 – Fit: Mark the door 40mm above the top of the threshold. Hold the deflector with its top edge on the mark and mark through the guide holes. Run waterproof adhesive sealant along the full length of the sealing channel, covering the screw holes. Line the deflector up with your marks and screw it into place, drilling pilot holes first if needed. Fit the end caps to finish.

Is the silver rain deflector chrome?
No. The Silver version is a shiny polished aluminium finish that looks similar to chrome but is not chrome plated. The Gold version is a gold effect aluminium finish, and White and Black are also available to suit painted or coloured doors.

Will a rain deflector stop draughts under my door?
No. A rain deflector's job is to throw water clear of the door bottom, and it does not seal the gap underneath. If you also have a draught, pair it with a suitable door bottom seal or threshold seal.

What is the difference between a rain deflector, a drip bar and a weatherboard?
They all do the same job: a bar fitted across the bottom of the outside face of the door that sheds rainwater away from the threshold. Weatherboards are traditionally timber. This Stormguard version is aluminium, so it won't rot or need repainting.
