What should I check before ordering a new door lock gearbox case?

The most important measurements are the backset (the distance from the centre of the handle spindle to the front of the faceplate) for this item either 35mm or 45mm and the lock handle centres (the distance from the centre of the handle spindle to the centre of the barrel) in this case 92mm. Both measurements should be checked before ordering to ensure compatibility.

How to reverse the Latch and Night Latch (Split Spindle):

• Important: Before starting any adjustments, the gearbox must be in the locked position. This can be done by lifting the door handle to throw the deadbolt.
• Perform the reversal before installing the lock into your door.

For Doors That Open Inwards

1: If the latch is on the correct side:

• No action necessary.

2: If the latch is on the wrong side:

• Step 1: Ensure the gearbox is in the locked position.
• Step 2: Using a 3 mm Allen key, loosen the screw located at the front of the latch.
• Step 3: Gently pull the latch out of its case.
• Step 4: With the latch removed, insert the same 3 mm Allen key deep into the hole located at the bottom of the latch.
• Step 5: Rotate the key (and latch mechanism) 180°.
• Step 6: Reinsert the latch into the case in the new, required orientation.
• Step 7: Tighten the screw.

For Doors That Open Outwards

1: If the latch is on the correct side:

• Step 1: Ensure the gearbox is in the locked position.
• Step 2: Insert a 3 mm Allen key through the black plastic on the back side of the lock.
• Step 3: Rotate the key 180° to reverse the spindle function.
• Step 4: Remove the Allen key once the rotation is complete.

2: If the latch is on the wrong side:

• Step 1: Ensure the gearbox is in the locked position.
• Step 2: Using a 3 mm Allen key, loosen the screw at the front of the latch.
• Step 3: Gently pull the latch out of its case.
• Step 4: With the latch removed, insert the same 3 mm Allen key deep into the hole at the bottom of the latch.
• Step 5: Rotate the key (and latch mechanism) 180°.
• Step 6: Reinsert the latch into the case in the new, required orientation.
• Step 7: Tighten the screw.
